ULTRA-LOCK
UA-2400
ULTRA-LOCK is a combination Effect Additive and Basecoat Converter designed for use with Kirker’s ULTRA-GLO urethane color system. UA-2400 significantly improves sprayability by stabilizing metallics and pearls, locking these effect pigments in place for an even, streak-free finish. This additive also converts single-stage urethanes into fast-drying, low-gloss, basecoat-like finishes. Packaged in quarts, ULTRA-LOCK mixes into the ULTRA-GLO system at 3:1:1 (three parts color, one part activator, one part additive).

FISH EYE ELIMINATOR
UFE8
UFE8 is designed to combat fish eyes or cratering in urethane finishes. Fish eyes are caused by contamination – most often in the form of silicone, water, oil and/or grease – on the substrate. The best defense against fish eyes is a properly prepared surface and clean work environment, however sometimes despite efforts to keep things clean, contamination appears. In those situations, a little Fish Eye Eliminator (up to ½ ounce per sprayable quart) goes a long way to ease surface tension and allow the coating to flow properly.

ACTIVATORS
Whether they’re called activators, hardeners or catalysts, these are critical components of multiple- part coating systems. It is always important to select the suitable material based on the coating and anticipated shop conditions. Using the wrong type, or the wrong speed activator may lead to application defects. All of Kirker’s activators, hardeners and catalysts are specifically formulated to provide the ideal performance in the coating they are matched with. Following is a brief guide:

REDUCERS
Often an afterthought, reducers are an important component of any paint system, and should be chosen carefully based on the type of coating being applied, as well as different environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity at the time of application. Using the wrong type of reducer, or choosing an inappropriate reducer for the particular shop conditions, may lead to serious application defects.
The following outlines the wide assortment Kirker Automotive Finishes manufactures for use in its different paint, primer and clearcoat systems.
BLACK DIAMOND Series Low-VOC Urethane Reducers
Made from different blends of high-quality exempt solvents, these urethane-grade reducers aid flow and help deliver a beautiful finish in any of the BLACK DIAMOND Series Low-VOC systems. Four speeds allows for even greater control over conditions. Because of the exempt contents, these reducers are also a great choice in place of conventional solvents in other coatings systems to help maintain VOC compliance. Packaged in quarts only.

ULTRA-GLO Urethane-Grade Reducers
A premium-quality alcohol and water-free urethane reducer, this series is designed to be used with Kirker’s ULTRA-GLO single-stage urethane paints, SPECTRA Series urethane candy system and even the BLACK DIAMOND Series Low-VOC basecoat in areas where VOC limits allow. May also be used to cut viscosity and aid flow in 2K urethane primers, epoxy primer, Super Rust Stop non-sanding primer and any of Kirker’s urethane clearcoats. Packaged in both gallons and quarts.

WAX & GREASE REMOVER
A strong cleaning solvent designed for cleaning bare metal and original equipment finshes. Wax & Grease Remover (650) should be used before any other preparation steps. Apply with clean rags followed by a separate clean dry rag. Since this product is a very effective cleaner, it should never be used after the car has been sanded or on any car that has been painted with lacquer.
SURFACE WASH
A mild prep solvent, Surface Wash (600) is designed for use just prior to primer or paint application. Helps remove any sanding debris, oils and others surface contaminants which may be present. Apply with a clean rag soaked in Surface Wash followed immediately by a dry cloth, wiping in the same direction.
